History of France and Italy
The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek holds one of the world's largest and most important collections on the history of France and Italy with historically grown  holdings.
The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek has since the 1950s fulfilled the role of a reference library for the history of France and Italy on a Germany-wide level within the framework of the program of supra-regional literature supply supported by the  German Research Foundation. The basic idea of this system is that at least one copy of every scholarly and scientifically relevant publication should be available and accessible in Germany.
In addition to Italy and France the four overseas territories also form part of this area of collection emphasis. The following subject areas are taken account of from a historical perspective (from prehistory and ancient history to contemporary history): Culture, politics, constitution, administration, economy and society, history of the French and Italian colonies, human geography and regional studies as well as ancillary historical sciences.
The BSB comprehensively acquires books, periodicals and electronic media of scholarly relevance about these subject fields.
For more detailed information on the individual collections and the support programme please consult the information system  webis 8.2.
The literature on the area of collection emphasis history of France and Italy is contained in the BSB's general  catalogues. The collections are also searchable in combination with other databases and catalogues in the  Virtual Subject Library Romanic Cultural Area.
