Interrogation of Johann Georg Elser at the Reich Main Security Office in Berlin
The investigators of the NSDAP initially did not believe that Elser had acted as a sole perpetrator. They had him reconstruct the sequence of events and the bomb in numerous interrogations, in order to be able to rule out internally the involvement of the British secret service, which had been assumed initially and exploited for propaganda purposes. Elser was detained without due legal proceedings at the concentration camp of Sachsenhausen, later in Dachau, and executed there on 9 April 1945.
