The Hitler Putsch – a photo montage
This strongly edited image of the confrontation between the pro-Hitler putschists and the Bavarian state police on 9 November 1923 has been proven to be fake. Rendered highly visible by a light-coloured coat, Hitler was edited into the image and stylized into a hero in this way. The fake was produced after the seizure of power in January 1933.
