Anti-Jewish demonstration in front of the department store of Isidor Bach in Munich’s Sendlinger Strasse
The merchant Isidor Bach (1849 – 1946) operated a shop for boys’ and men's clothing in the Sendlinger Strasse. Like other Jewish department stores, his business was regarded as a seemingly overpowering competitor by small business owners in particular already in the early 1920s. One year after this photograph was taken, Isidor Bach was among the hostages who were abducted to the Bürgerbräukeller by the Freikorps Oberland during Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch. Bach went into exile in 1936.
