Oskar Kokoschka at the opening of his exhibition at the Haus der Kunst
The Haus der Kunst dedicated a large-scale solo exhibition to Oskar Kokoschka (1886 – 1980) in 1956. At the time of National Socialism, his works had been discredited as "degenerate art" and shown in the propagandistic exhibition of 1937 at the then "Haus der Deutschen Kunst".
