High-resolution digital copies via DaFo (Data for research)
With DaFo (Data for Research), the Munich Digitization Center of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek offers an internationally accessible, free-of-charge download service for high-resolution images in the JPEG format with 300 ppi and for the associated text – if already available in machine-readable form.
DaFo is provided free of charge for non-commercial purposes.
DaFo is currently still being tested, but already includes all digital materials that are freely accessible online, among them numerous world-famous works of the cultural heritage. The maximum order amount per day/ user is limited due to the enormous data volumes retrieved from the archive and made available. The digital copies are provided for downloading after 24 hours at the earliest and within four weeks at the latest – depending on the volume of the ordered materials and workload of the service.
Any commercial use of the digital copies of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is subject to approval and a fee. In this case, please use our document delivery service "Altes Buch", for which fees are charged.
