As a universal library with a book collection of international renown, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is one of the largest and most important libraries in Europe. This guided tour (in German) is intended to offer interested visitors a look behind the scenes: An informative tour of our repository gives you a personal experience of the dimensions of our institution and provides you with many interesting facts about our unique collections.

Meeting point and accessibility

Meeting point is the main stairway in the entrance hall. Kindly put away your bags and overcoats in lockers before the start of the guided tour.

Since the tour of the stacks also includes parts of the building that are not handicapped-accessible, we kindly ask for your understanding that this guided tour is unfortunately not suitable for visitors with strongly impaired mobility (wheelchair users).

Registration

Please register by e-mail, stating the desired course title and date and the number of persons participating (please also state first names and surnames). In case you cannot participate on the booked date at short notice, please notify us.
Guided tours for groups can only be arranged upon prior written enquiry.

Costs

The touristic guided tours through the library are free of charge.
