About the event

Purchasing contemporary art can be expensive – or you can go to an artists’ book fair! In cooperation with the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, the AAP Archive Artist Publications, the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and the Academy of Fine Arts Kassel, the Haus der Kunst organises the fair Super BOOKS 2022 (entry free of charge).

The Super BOOKS, an event curated by the organisers, presents a large volume of autonomous artists’ publications in Munich for the third time. On 11 and 12 November 2022, artists, designers and alternative publishers show their productions in the north gallery of the Haus der Kunst.

Super BOOKS is to be understood in the tradition of independent, individual places, which have formed since the 1960s in the surroundings of the international, post-avantgardist art scene for artists’ publications and their reception. It is no coincidence that artists’ publications are also an expression of the emancipatory intention to democratise art and its market and to establish new networks for communication and distribution.

On site, visitors are invited to stroll around, leaf through, purchase and listen: There is a sound programme provided by Radio 80k, and there is also a framework programme including performances and interviews.
