The Specialised Information Service (FID) for East, Central and Southeast European Studies extends an invitation to a hands-on session on 28 June 2023, 17:00, for securing memes on the war against Ukraine.

On the online workshop

"Saving Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online" – this is the objective of the honorary initiative SUCHO. It is intended to save not only websites, but also memes on the war. Memes are not only an impressive example of the Ukrainian force of resistance, but also an important source for future historical research. For this purpose, memes are not only downloaded, but catalogued in accordance with library standards and complemented by further information. The secured memes can be viewed and searched on the public meme wall:
memes.sucho.org

Everybody interested can chip in and support SUCHO’s meme collection actively at the online workshop. The objective is to find and submit memes. The team of the Specialised Information Service for East, Central and Southeast European Studies explains how cataloguing works and offers active support. Everybody interested is cordially invited – no matter if you work in the library or cultural sector or are a scholar or member of the public. Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is helpful, but not required. No previous experience required. No prior registration required.
