The International Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference (MedRen), the largest academic conference in Europe in the field of musicology, will be held in Munich from 24 to 28 July. MedRen is considered to be the central forum worldwide for the exchange of current research in the field of music culture of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period. The conference is organised annually by different university locations: after Uppsala (2022), Lisbon (2021), Edinburgh (2020), Basel (2019), the conference will return to Germany for the first time in over 20 years (Jena 2003). In 2023, the city of Munich will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Munich Court Chapel. A central topic of the conference are the sources of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek.
