About the event
You are cordially invited to enjoy a new format in our series "Workshop concerts": a discussion concert. Students of the University of Music and Performing Arts of Munich (HMTM) present chamber music works by Peter Michael Hamel. Between the recitals, the composer has his say in a dialogue with Dorothea Hofmann (HMTM). Born in Munich in 1947 and grown up there, Hamel settled in Aschau in the Chiemgau region after spending time in Berlin, Rome, Ireland, Graz and Hamburg, interspersed with extensive travels and studies in Asia. Hamel once characterized himself as a "cosmopolitan with European-Bavarian-Christian roots". He donated his pre-death estate to the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in 2017.
The concert programme includes works for piano and violin from various periods of creation. The 2nd piano quintet from the year 2019 will be publicly performed for the first time on this occasion.
Performers: Johannes Obermeier (piano), Peter Son Götz (violin), Lycoris-Quartet
