"Costume hats and tourists" is the title of the current presentation shown by the Image Archive of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek up to 28 October 2016. The exhibits include motifs from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Werdenfelser Land region and Tyrol: Locations and buildings, mountains and lakes, local population and tourists, regional costumes and events.

The photographs from the archive Johannes were taken by the founder of the photographic studio Bernhard Johannes in Partenkirchen and by his successors Max and August Beckert and Franz Kölbl. This dynasty of photographers was active between 1869 and 2004.
