About the conference

The advanced training event organised by the Specialised Information Service for Historical Studies and the Association of German Librarians will address predominantly the further development of the specialised information services (Fachinformationsdienste, FID) supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and of further digital services for historical studies. The conference is intended mainly for subject specialists from the field of history.

On the first day of the event, several papers will introduce the Specialised Information Service for Historical Studies managed by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek and the Deutsches Museum. The focus will be on acquisition and licensing, the portal historicum.net, which will fan out all digital services of the specialised information service as of its relaunch at the beginning of 2018, and the German historical bibliographic database "Deutsche Historische Bibliographie", which will be launched in the autumn of 2017. In addition, the question will be addressed of how a new partnership between subject specialists and the specialized information service could be designed.

The second part of the conference will be dedicated to a paper about the Clio Guide as a handbook on digital resources for historical studies and the licensing service of the German National Library for the digitization of out-of-print works, additional digital services and perspectives of information provision. Likewise, the connection between digital humanities and historical studies and the associated options for cooperation between scholars and libraries will be addressed.

About the framework programme

In addition to the lecture programme, the participants will be given opportunity for mutual exchange. A common dinner will take place on 21 November 2017 (at the participants' own expense). Kindly state whether you would like to participate in the dinner when sending us your registration.
