The state of the manuscripts and printed works is verified in the Institute for Conservation and Restoration also before exhibitions. In order to prevent damage occurring during the exhibition, individual book support structures are prepared for the exhibits, taking account of the size of the book and the expedient opening angle from point of view of conservation.

Conservators act as couriers of the exhibits, ensuring their safe transport, and verify whether all conservation preconditions are fulfilled by the lender in the location of the exhibition, such as illumination with maximally 50 lux and the optimal climatic conditions, in order to protect the exhibits from any damage.
