Born in Braunschweig in 1942, died in Berlin in 2020.
From around 1956 to 1959 training as print worker. Move to Berlin in 1961, active as book printer, photographer in parallel. From 1965 to around 1975 permanent photographer of the gallery René Block, in contact with numerous artists, above all from the Fluxus movement and performance art (i.a. Joseph Beuys). 1975 book project on natives in the Amazon region.
1978 photos for the STERN series on the drug scene in Berlin ("Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo") [book later published in the UK titled "H. Autobiography of a Child Prostitute and Heroin Addict"]. Active as freelance photographer for STERN since then. From 1982 to 1984 photographer for STERN in South America. October 1984 to 1990 accredited photographer for STERN in East Berlin. As of 1990 freelance photographer for various journals (above all for Focus) and newspapers.
