Reference library
The reference collection of the map department can be found in the Reading Room for Music/Maps/Images on the 1st floor (call number: Hbks), comprising 3,800 volumes shelved on the 2nd gallery. It contains the most important source works and reference works, manuals, atlases and bibliographies. Further volumes with the call number Hbks are kept in the stacks and need to be ordered first.
Ordering media for use in the reading room
Printed maps, atlases, globes and cartographic writings can be searched in BSB DISCOVER! and need to be ordered there.
Maps, atlases and globes can be used exclusively in the Reading Room for Music/Maps/Images.
Other reading rooms
Hand-drawn maps (call number: Cod.icon.) can be ordered and consulted exclusively in the Reading Room for Manuscripts and Rare Books. The consultation of volumes kept in the vault is subject to prior approval.
