Originally from Straubing, Georg Fruhstorfer (1915 – 2003) was active as a freelance photographer and photo journalist in Munich as of 1948. His work comprises photos of daily life in Munich during the reconstruction after the Second World War, reports about the social and economic life in Munich and home stories about celebrities from the period between 1946 and 2002.
The archive contains around 19,000 black-and-white and coloured images (negatives, slides and prints). The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek acquired it from the family in the years 2005 to 2012.
