In August, the Image Archive of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek has uploaded a further 1,200 images to the online catalogue. Among them are numerous recent acquisitions, such as a coloured steel engraving of the French general Louis Alexandre Berthier (1753), who was married to a Bavarian princess and niece of King Max I Joseph.

"Images, images, images – The photographic archives of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek" is the title of the current presentation of the Image Archive, which can be visited as of now up to 7 July 2017 in front of the Reading Room for Music, Maps and Images.

The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is expanding its digital services again. Users from the fields of scholarship and research can now include all digital copies produced so far – thus around 1.2 million volumes with around 270 million book pages and 43 million images – in a similarity-based image search for similar motifs and images. The service is available at https://bildsuche.digitale-sammlungen.de and can also be used on mobile terminals.
