The first 70,000 images from the STERN Photo Archive are on their way to digitization. This means that the time is drawing a bit nearer when you can see the photos online and use them.

The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek has acquired the photo archive of Karsten de Riese, which includes around 390,000 images. With this important document of analogue photography in Germany in the second half of the 20th century, the library further expands its already extensive Image Archive, which is the largest of its kind held by any public-sector institution in Germany.

In a feature highly worth seeing, the NDR TV channel reports about the Image Archive of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek which will now take over the life’s work of the Flensburg photo journalist Dirk Hentschel.

bavarikon presents new photograph collections of two partners, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek and the Tucher'sche Kulturstiftung (Tucher Cultural Foundation). The portal on the arts, culture and regional studies of Bavaria thus now offers around 90,000 high-resolution images inviting you to go on a virtual exploration trip!
