A new research portal on east, eastern-central and south-eastern Europe has been launched on 20 June 2018! osmikon pools the services for interdisciplinary research on eastern and south-eastern Europe.

The collection spanning a total of four databases has been licensed for Germany-wide use within the framework of the Specialised Information Service for Russian, East and Southeast European Studies with the support of the German Research Foundation (DFG). Access to "Social Movements, Elections and Ephemera Databases: Ukraine" and the digital copies of materials on nation-wide elections and protests in Ukraine in the period between 2012 and 2014 now enables political scientists, contemporary historians, sociologists and anthropologists in particular to research the recent events in Ukraine on the basis of materials which are scarcely available otherwise.

The digital source collection has been licensed for Germany-wide use within the framework of the Specialised Information Service for Russian, East and Southeast European Studies with the support of the German Research Foundation. Access to "The Stalin Digital Archive" and the digital copies it contains of the fund 558 from the Russian State Archive for Socio-Political History (RGASPI), will make the research of Stalin and of the Soviet Union significantly easier for researchers in Germany in the future.

The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek acquires an extensive collection of partisan prints, predominantly from the region of today's Slovenia. The library thus complements its holdings by adding first-class sources on the South-East European and German history during the Second World War.

A large part of the reference library on Eastern Europe (Hbost) is currently being deacidificated and will consequently be unavailable for a period of presumably two months.
