Ukraine

Ukrainica

The Ukrainica – works in the Ukrainian language, about or from Ukraine – play an important role within the Eastern European collection of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. Their overall number can be merely estimated, since the current territory of the still young state of Ukraine historically belonged to different states in continuously varying sequence. The overall number should be approximately 110,000 printed volumes. Through targeted acquisition, the holdings grow annually by around 1,800 scholarly monographs on topics from the fields of history, politics, regional studies, philology and more. In addition to monographs, over 500 periodicals are acquired, in printed or electronic form. The Ukrainica also encompass a multiplicity of further resources, such as extensive holdings of microforms, maps and images. The available media are predominantly recent, going back to the 19th or later centuries.
