bavarikon has surpassed the threshold of half a million in 2024. During the past 12 months, 49,945 new objects have gone online. In total, the portal now presents 507,853 objects from currently 200 cultural institutions.

The search portal of the Image Archive is available to users with a new appearance as of today. The reason for this change is the switch-over to a new database system. In the wake of the switch-over, the picture portal now offers modernised web design and partly enhanced functions.

The civil settlement Augusta Vindelicum was the prospering capital of the Roman province Rhaetia and an important trade centre as of the first century AD. The new virtual exhibition in bavarikon gives visitors an insight into the life of the people at the time.

bavarikon, Bavaria's digital treasure trove, wants to establish a particularly low-threshold access to history and culture with a new editorial service: An extra website, bavarikon4u.de, was set up for this purpose, where brief, entertaining contents are offered in easily understandable form. The objective is to facilitate access to the world of art and culture particularly for a younger public.
