In addition to simple and advanced search options, there is a browsing access option which is based on the Dewey Decimal Classification. The browsing option allows users to search for regions, topics and epochs, as is possible also when using other search tools of osmikon, such as the full-text repository OstDok, the recent acquisitions service of the BSB "New Books and More on Eastern Europe" and the catalogue of Internet resources on Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, OstNet.
In addition to the new search interface, ARTOS also provides an attractive alerting service called ARTOS-AboService. By using this service, you can receive regular (daily, weekly or monthly) notifications by e-mail about articles and reviews. There are two subscription formats available: the topic-specific subscription option in accordance with selected regions, topics, epochs and languages and a classic journal subscription option. Currently, the new contents of around 250 catalogued subject-specific journals can be subscribed to.
ARTOS is a cooperation project initiated by the Specialised Information Service for Russian, East and Southeast European Studies and coordinated by the Department of Eastern Europe of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. Currently, eight partner institutions are contributing to ARTOS: the Collegium Carolinum (CC), the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe – Institute of the Leibniz Association (HI), the Institute of Danube Swabian History and Regional Studies (IdGL), the Institute for German Culture and the History of South-Eastern Europe at the LMU Munich (IKGS), the Leibniz Institute for East and South-East European Studies (IOS), the Martin Opitz Library (MOB), the Austrian National Library (ÖNB) and the Central Institute for Art History (ZIKG).
