As a "newspaper documenting everything", the London Times has offered important, award-winning reporting, information about parliamentary debates, critical interpretations of facts and a unique historical insight into the views taken by important reporters and issues of the epoch in question since 1785.

The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek has acquired a complementary license of the Times Digital Archive Extension from 1986 to 2012 at the start of 2018. The newspaper's archive as of the year 1785 is accessible free of charge for registered users of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek for doing research.
