New online reference work: Brill Encyclopedia of Early Christianity

The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek has acquired a license for a comprehensive reference work on the history of early Christianity. The encyclopaedia offers extensive articles on texts, authors and ideas. The content is intended to bridge the gap between studies of the New Testament and patrology, covering the entire time of early Christianity up to 600 AD.

Planned to grow to a total of six volumes, the reference work will be published in the form of quarterly uploads "online first". A printed edition will be made available after conclusion of the scheduled work (presumably in 2022).
The encyclopaedia will comprise around 1,300 articles. Currently, 330 articles are available, with approximately 300 further articles being added annually.
