New collection in bavarikon – Lithographies of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek

bavarikon newly features around 190 lithographies. These are prints produced in the lithographic printing technique – a method developed in Munich, which revolutionised the reproduction of image materials.

The collection includes numerous unique prints, as well as earliest facsimile editions, such as the facsimile of the prayer book of Emperor Maximilian I (1459 – 1519) with images hand-drawn by Albrecht Dürer (1471 – 1528) or the facsimile of the tournament book of William IV of Bavaria (1493 – 1550).
