General information about the current situation

In the reopening of the research reading rooms of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, health protection, in particular compliance with the applicable distancing rules, continues to have priority due to the corona virus/ SARS-CoV-2. For this reason, the numbers of working places and of users per day have to be limited for the individual reading rooms until further notice.
Entering the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is possible only on condition that you wear a face mask covering your mouth and nose. Immediately at the working places in the reading rooms it is not obligatory to wear a face mask.

Advance registration for the research reading rooms

Accordingly, it is required as of the date of reopening that you register in advance every time you wish to visit a certain research reading room for work or study purposes (at the latest one working day before the date of the planned visit and at the earliest 4 weeks in advance). Reservations can be made for maximally 3 dates.
Provided that a free working place is available on the date or dates specified by you, we will send you a registration confirmation by e-mail. This confirmation has to be presented in the form of a printout at all admission control points during your visit.

Access is granted to all scholars for their respective field of specialisation, in particular for working with literature and media which can be ordered only for provision in the respective research reading room and/or can be used exclusively there.

In the event that you cannot make use of a confirmed reservation, we kindly ask you to notify us briefly, so that we can make the working place available to other interested users.
