Dear library users,
on 2 May 2023, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek will replace the library system SISIS Sunrise, which is no longer up to date after over two decades, by the software Alma/PrimoVE by Ex Libris. A large proportion of the operational processes of our library is controlled using this software, starting with acquisitions and the registration and cataloguing of holdings, going on to the management of our stocks and reading rooms and further on to the OPACplus, the search tool for our users, and finally the lending of books.
This means that the replacement of such software constitutes a major intervention into all workflows and is connected to considerable effort, which goes far beyond installing a software update, which we are all familiar with. Unfortunately, this will also entail limitations of operations and services. The following limitations will be applicable as of the stated date up to the start of operation of the new system:
- 09 March 2023:
Interruption of interlibrary lending from other libraries; there may also occur intermittent limitations with respect to ordering media on site.
- 03 April 2023:
Interruption of the lending of media to other libraries within the scope of the interlibrary loan system
- 11 April 2023:
Interruption of the order system for loans at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek
- 17 April 2023:
Interruption of lending operations and user registration: Media provision, media return and registration office closed
- 28 April 2023:
Interruption of the search functions of the OPACplus of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek
- As of 02 May 2023,
all services will be available again.
The reading rooms will remain open continuously, with the exception of 01 May 2023, which is an official holiday. We will ensure that the limitations of operations and services do not result in any disadvantages with respect to the computation of lending terms.
