The entries are accompanied by the biographical and bibliographic data of the authors. The user is guided to multimedia services, such as digital copies or audio samples, via links. A simple mouse click now allows everybody interested to follow on the heels of the authors of Bavarian Swabia. The service is directed to a broad target group: Academic researchers, everybody interested in literature or users wishing to go on a cultural-touristic journey will benefit from the service. The map includes authors, male and female, from the Middle Ages up to the present, in the standard language and in dialect, also taking account of current works.
Das Projekt stiftet auf moderne Weise Identität, es bündelt die literarische Kultur unserer Heimat und macht sie noch leichter erfahrbar.
("The project creates identity in a modern way; it pools the literary culture of our homeland, facilitating access and experience.")
Martin Sailer, President of the Bezirkstag (district council), is pleased.
Minister of the Arts Bernd Sibler agrees:
("DigiLABS visualises the multifaceted and rich literature landscape of Bavarian Swabia.")
DigiLABS führt uns vor Augen, wie vielfältig und reich die Literaturlandschaft Bayerisch-Schwabens ist.
First phase concluded, next step Oberallgäu
The first phase of the cooperation project supported by the District of Swabia between the Archive and Research Center for Literature from Swabia, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich and the Verein Schwäbisches Literaturschloss Edelstetten e. V. (Association Swabian Literature Castle Edelstetten), covering the administrative district of the eastern Allgäu region (Ostallgäu), has been concluded now. The District of Swabia funded the heuristics and data collection, the project staff member Rosemarie Mair M.A. recorded the biographic and bibliographic data of the authors of the district Ostallgäu. The Literature Portal Bavaria, financially supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and the Arts and operated by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, drew up the digital map and entered the data. The data collection for the district of the upper Allgäu region, Oberallgäu, is the next scheduled step.
