Digital collection "Russian Social Sciences and Humanities Periodicals" available to German researchers as of now

The digital collection "Russian Social Sciences and Humanities Periodicals" contains the most important Russian journals on topics from the fields of humanities and social sciences related to Eastern Europe. It includes all 31 journals of the Russian Academy of Sciences and independent scholarly publications.

There is a large proportion of periodicals on literature and language, among them the so-called "tolstye žurnaly" ("bulky journals"). In addition, the collection provides access to well-known journals, among other things from the fields of history, sociology, philosophy, economics, education, political science and law. The following journals are of particular interest to historical studies of Eastern Europe:

  • "Istorija i istoriki“ – with issues from 2001 to 2014
  • "Novaja i novejšaja istorija“ – with issues as of 2000
  • "Problemy istorii, filologii, kul’tury“ – with issues as of 2015
  • "Rossijskaja istorija“ – with issues as of 2000
  • "Russia in Global Affairs“ – with issues as of 2003
  • "Russkaja istorija“ – with issues from 2011 to 2016
  • "Svobodnaja mysl’: teoretičeskij i političeskij žurnal“ – with issues from 2011 to 2017
  • "Vestnik drevnej istorii“ – with issues as of 2000
  • "Voprosy istorii: ežemesiačnyj žurnal“ – with issues as of 1945

All journals can be searched in full-text mode. It is also possible to browse individual issues of a journal. The articles can be downloaded in the PDF format. The database is regularly expanded by new titles and issues.

The access has been licensed within the scope of the Specialised Information Services (FIDs) for Slavonic Studies run by the Berlin State Library – Prussian Cultural Heritage, and for East, Central and Southeast European Studies run by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, with the support of the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Access is available to registered users of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek via the Database Information System.
The service is accessible free of charge also Germany-wide and at German institutes abroad within the scope of the national license.
