The project "Orient-Digital" is a project funded by the German Research Foundation for setting up a union catalogue (https://www.qalamos.net) for Oriental manuscripts. It is intended to pool the metadata of manuscripts held by over 25 cooperating institutions from Germany there. The objectives of the project are to establish common cataloguing and indexing standards, to convert printed catalogues into electronic ones and to integrate all existing electronic catalogue entries.
At the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, the Arabic, Persian and Ottoman-Turkish manuscript catalogues compiled by Joseph Aumer are retro-catalogued within the scope of the project "Orient-Digital": The catalogue descriptions are captured and integrated electronically in the union catalogue B3Kat first; the catalogue entries are then transferred to the portal "Qalamos".
