The Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation has supported the acquisition of antiquarian prints for almost ten years now. In the years 2012 to 2016, the foundation provided funds in the amount of 400,000 Euros annually for the acquisition of printed works of academic relevance; since 2017 and up to 2022 again in the amount of 200,000 Euros. The acquired antiquarian works are provided with a bookplate of the foundation and the catalogue entries are correspondingly marked with "BSB-Provenienz: München, BSB, erworben 20** aus Mitteln der Carl-Friedrich-von-Siemens-Stiftung" (BSB provenance: Munich, BSB, acquired in 20** from means provided by the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation), using which they are also searchable.

The means spent are for the benefit of acquisitions within the scope of the Collection of German Printed Works (1450 – 1600; music up to 1800), in particular the rich collection of incunabula of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, antiquarian works as of the 17th century and the complementation of missing works of more recent times, and they permit the appropriate complementation of collections as required by research and education.
