On behalf of the German Research Foundation (DFG), a Competence Center for the Licensing of Electronic Resources (KfL) has been set up within the system framework of the Specialised Information Services for Science and Scholarship ("Fachinformationsdienste für die Wissenschaft", FID). It acts as a Germany-wide service provider supporting the Specialised Information Services in fulfilling their tasks. In addition to negotiating, licensing and providing digital media on a supra-regional scale, the KfL also develops suitable licensing and business models, manages the data acquired along with the licenses and develops value-added services matching the service portfolio.
The project partners cooperating in the Competence Center for the Licensing of Electronic Resources are the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (BSB), the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen) and the Berlin State Library (SBB). The activities of the individual offices of the center are coordinated by the Göttingen State and University Library.
