Acquisition, Collection Development and Cataloguing 2 (BEE2)

The Department Acquisition, Collection Development and Cataloguing 2 (BEE2) is in charge of collection building, acquisition, cataloguing, administration and provision of the extensive holdings of serials of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. This also includes the management of the historical and the current holdings of newspapers and of the Periodicals Reading Room.

Moreover, BEE2 is also responsible for the selection, licensing and cataloguing of electronic media (e-journals, e-books, databases). In this field it acts not only on a local level, but also on a regional and supraregional one, by operating the office of the Bayern-Konsortium (license acquisition consortium of Bavarian academic libraries) and by its involvement in supraregional licensing and open-access transformation contracts and in the field of licensing for Specialized Information Services.

A further key responsibility of the Department BEE2 is managing the Specialized Information Service for the field of collection emphasis history and the issue of research data in historical science.

Finally, the Department BEE2 is also responsible for producing the Bavarian Ministerial Bulletin (Bayerisches Ministerialblatt, BayMBl.), which is provided on the official announcement platform of Bavaria in digital form.
