Cooperation with the Russian Presidential Library Boris Yeltsin
On 28 June 2011 the Directors General of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek and of the Russian Presidential Library Boris Yeltsin, Dr. Rolf Griebel and Prof. Dr. A. P. Veršinin, signed a cooperation agreement in Munich in the presence of the Russian Consul General, Andrej Jurevič Grozov.
The cooperation agreement encompasses the large-scale exchange of digital documents on Russian history, carrying out joint projects, exhibitions and congresses and furthering the professional exchange of librarians.
The Russian Presidential Library Boris Yeltsin is a top-modern, purely digital library specialising in Russian history. It was opened in the spring of 2009 and has the status of a third national library in Russia. The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in turn has one of the best collections on Russian history worldwide and is the leading German institution in the field of the digitization of library holdings. The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek hopes that the cooperation between the two libraries will yield a large benefit for East European research in Germany.
