Schedel's world chronicle. One example from an outstanding collection
Schedel's world chronicle was crafted 520 years ago. Yet the colourfulness, the richness of detail and the impressive picture language still fascinates the viewer today, just like in the past. The chronicle is an outstanding result of German book-printing art, and this specimen is considered to be one of the most distinguished works held by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek owns one of the most important collections of manuscripts and incunabula worldwide.
The film illuminates the creation of Schedel's world chronicle, explains some impressive illustrations and shows the specific features of the Munich copy.
