2013.09.16 Bibliophile treasures from the Wittelsbach court

The rich holdings of the Bavarian State Library comprise many precious manuscripts with exceptional painted decoration from the collections of the House of Wittelsbach, which reigned in Bavaria from 1180 to 1918. On the occasion of two international conferences, a selection of twenty-four outstanding items will be displayed by the Library in the early summer and autumn of 2013.

2013.03.04 Oriental pastry and other delights

Numerous "delights" in the form of richly illustrated works, frequently coloured, visualised by original graphic techniques and printing methods, are currently presented in the hallway in front of the reading room for music, maps and images. However, the exhibition also comprises books with glued-in original photographs, special publication forms such as scrapbooks and stereo image albums and illustrated magazines. The range of topics goes from travels to faraway countries since the 18th century, on to traditional Bavarian costumes, and on to fashion and architecture of the 1920s/ 1930s.
