Catalogue of Microforms on History
Das  "Verzeichnis der Mikroformen zur Geschichte in der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek" (VMG-BSB - Catalogue of microforms on history in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek) (formerly: "Gesamtverzeichnis der ausländischen mikroverfilmten Archivalien" (Union list of foreign microfilmed archive materials) lists the complete collections of the BSB of (commercially) microfilmed and otherwise unpublished materials. These materials are in particular US-American, British and Russian files on the history of the German-language countries, France, Italy and Eastern Europe as well as on the history of the two World Wars. Furthermore the catalogue also contains books, periodicals, newspapers and pamphlets, which were not microfilmed individually, but forming part of collections, and which appear to be useful for research in the fields of history and politics.

A major part of the funds for the purchase of the materials was provided by the  Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Society) within the framework of its programme of special collection fields.

The catalogue is divided into countries and equipped with an  Alphabetical Subject Index. It also contains the call numbers of the BSB and thus enables the user to directly order the items without any further research via the menu item "Magazinbestellung" ("Stack order") in the  OPACplus.
