The Kini lives! Extensive update of the successful app "Ludwig II – Walking in the Footsteps of a Fairytale King"

On the occasion of this year's 150th anniversary of the accession to the throne of King Ludwig II, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek presents an extensive update of the popular and award-winning app "Ludwig II - Walking in the Footsteps of a Fairytale King". In addition to extensive content, offering a multimedia representation of the live and work of King Ludwig II, the iPhone app offers also fascinating augmented reality features providing a real-life experience of history by using high tech.

In the new version 2.0, the app has undergone extensive technical refactoring. The design was completely remodelled and adjusted to the iOS7 design line.
The augmented reality features – representing a particular attraction of the app – were also brought up to the latest state of the art. Among other things, the 3D detection of the conservatory simulation was improved, by which the user can make Ludwig's legendary conservatory "appear" in virtual reality on the premises of the Munich Residence.

Also with regard to content, the new version of the app offers some exciting additions: The Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds (equalisation fund for the Wittelsbach dynasty) could be won as a further cooperation partner for making available further content. It was thus made possible to add further points of interest, such as e.g. the Museum of the Bavarian Kings in Hohenschwangau and to improve existing points of interest by adding photographs from the collection of the Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds. Further complementary image material was contributed by the Bavarian department of state-owned palaces, gardens and lakes.

The app can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple  App Store also in the new version 2.0. The contents are available in the German and the English language.
