The virtual subject library "Romanic Cultural Area" (Vifarom) has been online since September 2009. The portal is designed for an academic clientele from the fields of humanities and social sciences with the regional focal points of research: France, French-speaking countries and Italy. The portal offers online search facilities for the most important library catalogues pertaining to the subject field and for a collection of relevant internet resources. At the same time the meta search carries out an online search of various articles bibliographies, e.g. the OLC-SSG extract "Romanic cultural area" and the nationally licensed "Periodicals index online". Both databases evaluate tables of contents of journals from the areas of Italian and French culture, history, language and literature and the area of general Romance studies.
Vifarom furthermore offers a target group-specific selection from the electronic journals library involving a fast, structured and uniform access to electronic academic journals. The DBIS extract of the Vifarom contains a compilation of databases that are relevant for topics relating to the Romanic cultural area. As far as possible direct access is granted to the texts and databases. A collection of external links to academic institutions in the field of research on France and Italy and the Romanic cultural area in general in the "WerWasWo" ("WhoWhatWhere") module rounds of the service offer.
Information about recent acquisitions on a specific topic can be obtained by subscribing to an RSS feed. The recent acquisitions lists of Vifarom's partners furthermore provide a systematic overview of current publications.
Users can create and administrate watch lists and export bibliographic data.
