The Virtual Subject Library Musicology (ViFaMusik) is a project which has been financially supported by the German Research Foundation since July 2005, in which the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek as the library in charge of the special collection field cooperates with the Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz and the Gesellschaft für Musikforschung. The goal of the project is to provide subject information on a supra-regional level, offering the user fast and comfortable access to musicological information resources of all types.
Since 08-14-2006 the prototype of ViFaMusik has been accessible for everybody under
http://www.vifamusik.de. It comprises the modules "Literatur (Nachweise und Volltexte)" (Literature (catalogue entries and full texts)), "Fachdatenbanken / Digitalisierungen" (Subject databases / digital copies) and "wissenschaftliche Kommunikation" (scholarly communication). Among other resources, the bibliography of music publications online, the recent acquisitions and the music subject OPAC of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, musicological periodicals, an index of relevant internet resources as well as 140 musicological online databases have been integrated.
