The Virtual Special Library Eastern Europe represents one user-friendly single point of access to the electronic information facilities of competent libraries and scientific institutions. A great variety of bibliographic entries is linked up with electronic full texts, document delivery services and pay per view options.

 

The virtual subject library Eastern Europe was built up from 2001 to 2007 by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, in cooperation with the  Herder Institute Marburg, the  Ludwig Maximilian University Munich and the  Institute for East and Southeast European Studies Regensburg, with the support of the  German Research Foundation. Since 2008 the  Göttingen State and University Library (Lower Saxony) has also participated in ViFaOst.
