The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek owns a collection of more than 700  papyri, among them about 370 in the Greek language (Pap.graec.mon.), which are partly contained in printed catalogues of newer dates and otherwise in handwritten repertories, as well as papyri in the Demotic, Coptic, Latin, Aramaic and Arabic languages (shelf mark groups Pap.arab.mon., Pap.aram.mon., Pap.copt.mon., Pap.demot.mon., Pap.lat.mon.). The largest and most important group of papyri from point of view of content is the Greek. It consists predominantly of deeds, but also of literary papyri, from the era of Ptolemy up to the end of antiquity.
