Private Policy
Personal Data
The use of the Internet service facilities of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek partly requires the input of personal data, such as name, address, user number, e-mail address, PIN. The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek collects, processes and uses these personal data exclusively for the purpose of fulfillment of its tasks and exclusively for the specific purpose stated, i. e. only for the purpose for which you put your data at our disposal. The process is governed by the Bavarian Data Protection Act.

Logging
Upon each access to the web servers of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek relevant access data (log files) are stored. Depending on the access protocol used, the log file data set may have the following contents:
IP address of the accessing computer,
data and time of the request,
method/function of access requested by the accessing computer,
input values transmitted by the accessing computer (file name, ...),
access status of the web server (file transmitted, file not found, command not executed, etc.),
name of the requested file,
URL from which the file was requested/the desired function was requested,
amount of data transmitted,
description of the type of web browser or of the operating system used.

The stored data are exclusively used for the purpose of data security (identification and tracking of inadmissible unsuccessful and successful access attempts to the web servers) and for internal statistics. The data are not compared to other data stocks or even passed on to third parties, neither in total, nor in part. No evaluation of the data in regard of individual users takes place. The logged data are deleted after the evaluation of the yearly access figures. The evaluation is carried out on a monthly and on a yearly basis; the deletion of the data takes place every January of the subsequent year. The evaluation and the deletion of the data are both carried out by employees of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. The web servers of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek are operated by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek.

E-Mail Security
If you send us an e-mail, your e-mail address will be used exclusively for our correspondence with you.

Encryption
The data entered in our online forms are transmitted in an encrypted state (128 bit SSL). If you do not agree with an online transmission nevertheless, you may also request the services in question by sending us a letter by mail.

Links to other Internet sites
The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is liable for its "own contents" offered for use according to the general legal provisions in Germany (Art. 7 TMG [German Telemedia Act]). The links to the contents offered by other operators must be distinguished from these own contents.
By these links the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek provides access to "foreign contents" (Art. 8 TMG). The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is not liable for such "foreign" contents, since it does not request the transmission of such information, does not select the recipient of the information transmitted, and has not selected or amended the transmitted information. Due to the chosen requesting and linking method this "foreign information" is not automatically intermediately stored for a short period, so that no responsibility of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek for these foreign contents may be deduced therefrom either. Upon the initial establishment of the link the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek verified the foreign contents in regard of whether any liability could be incurred thereby, regarding both the civil law and the penal law. However, upon finding or receiving information from third parties that any civil-law or penal-law liability is incurred through a concrete offer to which the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek provides a link, such link shall be removed on condition that such removal is technically feasible and reasonable. External links are each marked by a special arrow symbol (in contrast to internal links). Upon clicking such a link a new browser window is opened, whose address field does no longer contain the URL of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek or its departments.

If you have any further questions regarding data protection, kindly contact the data security officer of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek:
