Historical Scores of the Bavarian State Opera
0 Special catalogue for historical scores of the Bayerische Staatsoper from approximately 1780 to the beginning of the 20th century

The historical library of the Muenchner Nationaltheater (Munich National Theatre) belongs to the most extensive and valuable opera libraries of the world.

These holdings (call number group St.th for "Staatstheater") were transferred to the Music Department of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in the 20th century and comprise the performance materials of approximately 955 stage works from the time of approximately 1780 to the beginning of the 20th century. The collection comprises the full scores, instrumental and vocal scores, piano scores, text books and scripts (e. g. director's books, prompt books) required for staging the performances in Munich.

The catalogue entries are the result of the manuscript cataloguing and indexing project of the DFG called "Historisches Aufführungsmaterial der Bayerischen Staatsoper" ("Historical Performance Materials of the Bavarian State Opera"). The special catalogue offers refined search options for the descriptions of content of these holdings (search fields: Beschreibung (description), Theater Provenienz (theatre origin), Werktitel im Material (work title used in the material) and Gattungsbezeichnungen (generic terms).

The terms of use of the music manuscripts are valid for the overall collection.
