Handwritten Library Catalogues
Handwirtten Library Catalogues

The group of shelf marks Codices bavarici monacenses Catalogi (Cbm. Cat.) contains the handwritten library catalogues of the old court library and of the libraries whose holdings were incorporated into the Munich court library at the beginning of the 19th century, as well as all catalogues of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, provided that they were archived. Some of these inventories date back to the 16th century and are extremely important both from a library- and a collection-historical point of view, such as for example the oldest supraregional catalogues (Cbm. Cat. 1 - 3). For these reasons, the inventory of the manuscripts of St. Emmeram in four volumes (Cbm. Cat. 14) obtained by Koloman Sanftl in 1808/1809 is a catalogue which is still frequently used today.
