Numerous "delights" in the form of richly illustrated works, frequently coloured, visualised by original graphic techniques and printing methods, are currently presented in the hallway in front of the reading room for music, maps and images. However, the exhibition also comprises books with glued-in original photographs, special publication forms such as scrapbooks and stereo image albums and illustrated magazines. The range of topics goes from travels to faraway countries since the 18th century, on to traditional Bavarian costumes, and on to fashion and architecture of the 1920s/ 1930s.

On the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Richard Wagner, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek presents an exhibition about the years the composer spent in Munich, which centred around the première of the musical drama Tristan and Isolde in the Royal Court and National Theatre.
