East European, Oriental and Asian Reading Room

The East European, Oriental and Asian Reading Room combines the reference libraries Eastern Europe with approximately 30,000 volumes, Orient with approximately 8,000 volumes and Eastern Asia with approximately 10,000 volumes. Important reference works, manuals and frequently used standard works are freely accessible. The classification systems of the three reference libraries are on display.

The reading room has 56 seats, partly with power connections for laptop computers.

Two PCs offer access to online catalogues and electronic media of the library, four PCs furthermore have Internet access for using databases and electronic media, as well as for scholarly research. In addition, one PC is equipped with a CD-ROM drive, and there are also reading devices for non-book materials (microfiche and microfilms).
 
Books and other media from the general stacks can be ordered for consultation to the East Reading Room.

From the 1st to the 10th day of each month an exhibition of new acquisitions from and about Eastern Europe takes place.

The Information Service in the East Reading Room will be pleased to answer your questions and accepts orders for the Digitisation and Photographic Reproduction service.
