The block books, whole-page copies of wooden boards, are related to the incunabula in that they represent evidence of the oldest methods of text and image reprography. However, they represent a special type of book on their own. The library owns 49 volumes, among them different editions of the "apocalypse", the "ars moriendi", the "canticum canticorum" and the "biblia pauperum". The German Research Foundation has been supporting the
cataloguing of the block books since 2009.
