The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek holds a collection of periodicals from the fields of biological sciences and medicine relevant for research, which is outstanding on a national and international scale.
This collection of periodicals, which was built up since the 1970s in a systematic and demand-oriented manner, currently encompasses approximately 7,500 current titles. The special collection of the BSB in the field of biological sciences is distinguished particularly for its interdisciplinary character.

The coverage of subjects reaches in particular from the subjects of human and veterinary medicine, pharmacology/pharmacy, biology, bio-chemistry, biophysics, aspects of agricultural science, forestry and nutrition science which are relevant from a life science perspective, as well as ecology and environmental research.
In addition to the printed collection, approximately half of the titles are also available in electronic form for onsite use.

BioMedLit offers integrated access to biological and medical scientific information.
